A celebration of being geeky.

I started this blog because of an article I read about Seattle hosting a Geek Girl Convention in October. You can find more about it here.

http://www.geekgirlcon.com/

Buy your ticket and support them.

I should be blogging a bit more, but I've been busy with my new job, curling season, and a pet beagle that ate $3,000 of wiring in my Honda Civic Hybrid.

So very quickly, my favorite new app for the iPad is the interactive magazine, Zite . Check it out.

Dropbox

Today at work I learned about a service called Dropbox. We use it for file sharing, but it is marketed as online backup as well. The company has been around since 2008, and has a basic plan for free that gives a user 2 gigs of free space.

I tend to use Google Docs for most of my file sharing and editing. The nice thing about Dropbox, is that it doesn't limit you to documents or any file type or size. It automatically syncs when it detects new files or changes are detected in your Dropbox folder. A bonus, is you get a free basic plan that gives you 2 gigs for free.

The con is that the next plan up is $9.99 a month for 50 gigs of storage. 50 gigs is great, however I get something like 80 gigs of photo and document storage from Google for like $20.00 a year.

Geekwire

Various newspapers and news sites have reported on a new technology site recently launched: Geekwire.

Geekwire is the creation of former Seattle PI reporters John Cook and Todd Bishop.

Mondays...

Like it or not, you get to experience them once a week.

Its just after lunch,  and so far I have accidentally caught my puppy dog's tail in the door as I closed it.

I also chose a restaurant to eat at in Fremont : The Baguette Box who 1. Had run out of baguettes and 2. Put cilantro on my salad (ick) after I specifically asked them to leave it out.

Bah.

Hopefully those of you that went to the Emerald City Con had a great time. I was busy with a another geeky activity: Curling.

Tonight, I will try and improve my geekiness by studying Ruby.
